Welcome to Blackford County

Blackford County in East Central Indiana, was founded in 1839. Located 7 miles east of Interstate 69, Blackford County is comprised of two primary cities: The county seat is Hartford City and Montpelier. Also in Blackford County is the town of Shamrock Lakes and a portion of the city of Dunkirk.

A good amount of the residents of Blackford County live and work in Blackford. A couple of the reasons that they do is that they enjoy the small-town atmosphere and the people.

They also enjoy the convenience of easy access to nearby metropolitan areas

THE BLACKFORD COUNTY ELECTION BOARD WILL HOLD A PUBLIC MEETING ON

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2024 IN THE BLACKFORD COUNTY COMMISSIONER’S ROOM AT 8:30 am.

THE MEETING TOPIC IS TO DISCUSS DELINQUESNT CFA-4’S.

COURTHOUSE SECURITY

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC:

The Blackford County Courthouse, Courts, and government offices have implemented their security protocols which will take place August 16, 2023.  The new protocols will require ALL members of the public to enter the Courthouse through the North (Main Street) Entrance ONLY.  There will be no public access through the South (Washington Street) Entrance.  The north side of the Courthouse will have parking for members of the public ONLY.  The public must enter through the north doors and will be subject to metal detection and security screening.  Cell phones will be allowed in the building, however, permission from the Probation Department or Courts is required in advance to bring phones to the third floor.  The Blackford County Commissioners, Security Council, and Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the public in advance for their cooperation and assistance in implementing these new and necessary protocols
